Substance Use and Addiction Counselling
Substance use and addiction can affect many areas of life, including relationships, work, mental health, physical wellbeing, and self-esteem. This may include alcohol or drug use, as well as behavioural addictions such as gambling, pornography, shopping, gaming, or technology use.
Often, these patterns begin as a way to cope with stress, emotional pain, trauma, anxiety, loneliness, or overwhelm. While they may offer short-term relief, they can gradually become difficult to control and may continue even when they are causing harm.
Addiction counselling is not only about changing behaviour — it is also about understanding what the behaviour is helping you manage. Together, we can explore underlying factors such as trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, grief, chronic stress, or emotional disconnection.
I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly without shame. My approach is trauma-informed and focused on building insight, emotional regulation skills, and healthier coping strategies.
Recovery looks different for everyone. Whether your goal is harm reduction, moderation, or abstinence, therapy can support you in creating meaningful and lasting change.
